Visiting Artist

Musician Tony Vacca spoke to the RPS 5th graders through music.

He explained that young people have to feel the power of their words to
effect change. 

Through their words and efforts, 5th graders should work together as a community
to help each other.

Tony’s drum was the medium through which 5th graders
shared their thoughtful concerns with one another about violence, unhappiness, inequities and despair.

After the audience sang the chorus lines:  “Won’t you tell me how come…?” individual
students were given the opportunity to get on stage to speak into the microphone with
‘powerful voices’.
