Media Lab

Media Lab

Welcome to the Media Lab!

While the Media Lab is under construction we still have seven production computers that students and teachers can utilize for class projects.

Here are some things to remember as you plan your media lesson, project, or unit:

1.) Video projects take time.

An average project might take 2-3 weeks to script, storyboard, shoot and edit. Please be aware of this when booking the Media Lab.

2) Time spent teaching students how to analyze media compositions and how to plan and produce their own media compositions is time well spent.

Twenty-first century literacy skills reinforce traditional literacy skills.

3) Video projects are essentially student-centered team projects.

Organizing students into production teams of 4-5, and assigning each student a specific role within the team, fosters constructive interdependence and student ownership of the learning goals.

4.) We have a limited number of cameras for shooting.

At the moment we have only five HD cameras, but if students are working in production teams, and each team has one camera operator, five is probably enough for your project. Still, more cameras are on the way!
