RHS Students Visit Symphony Hall
On Thursday, April 12, forty-two music students from Revere High School had the opportunity to experience a concert by the esteemed Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall. The program, “Music That Inspires,” consisted of classical musical selections that had strongly influenced the performers in the BSO to pursue their love of music as careers.
Attendees were treated to some familiar pieces, such as the William Tell Overture by Rossini, as well as some more obscure works like Mathis der Maler by the 20th Century composer Paul Hindemith. Before each piece, an introduction was given by the performer who had chosen it, explaining the powerful impact that it had had on his or her life.
The event was designed to give the students an experience entrenched in the Massachusetts State Music Frameworks for grades nine through twelve while at the same time being enjoyable and memorable.
The trip was made possible by a grant from the Revere Cultural Council.
