CURRICULUM

Play is a young child's work. Our program emphasizes the love of learning and curiosity through play. Children develop the following abilities through structured play experiences:

Use their bodies (fine and gross motor skills)

Get along with each other and adults (social development)

Be creative (open-ended activities)

Organize (math, sorting, sequencing, graphing)

Become ready to read and write (early literacy)

The daily schedule includes alternating periods of individual, small and large group activities. There may not always be papers to bring home. Our program has projects that sometimes take many days and weeks to complete. We also emphasize teaching children to help themselves and one another. Simple science and math activities teach children to observe and make sense out of the natural world around them. We emphasize an appreciation for nature, animals, and the earth. Language development takes place through reading stories, making books, scribbling, labeling and drawing. We encourage children to use words to solve their problems and to describe their experiences.
