In the classroom we focus our attention on the world that is in Hamlet -- the language, the characters, the meaning.
On the Web we have an opportunity to explore the world generated by this play, the theater productions, films, lectures, tours, paintings, documents, critiques, debates and discussions, historical sites and landmarks, that spin like moons and stars around Shakespeare's Hamlet.
This WebQuest is designed for use in the high school English class. At Revere High School, the sophomores read Hamlet as part of the World Literature curriculum.
Each component of this WebQuest addresses many standards within the Literature and Composition strands of the Massachusetts Department of Education's English Language Arts Curriculum Framework. However, it is the specific purpose of this activity to address the Media Strand, and most particularly, Learning Standard 26: "Students will obtain information by using a variety of media and evaluate the quality of material they obtain."
