Welcome to Garfield Middle School
The only middle school in Revere to offer students expanded learning time through longer class periods and a 4 pm dismissal, Garfield Middle School supports the whole student, beyond academics. We are guided by our core values, Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships.
Here, students are given Respect and Responsibility and actively participate in their learning by setting their own goals for academic, social and emotional success. Students deepen their learning and explore their interests and passions through choosing a topic from a variety of enrichment classes, which are selected based on recommendations by students and range from digital storytelling, to financial literacy, to environmental sustainability, to simple circuits, to writing and social justice, to architecture. Students showcase their work through project-based learning, which takes a student’s topic of interest and ties it to the skills the student needs to develop in particular areas. Each student is invited to demonstrate what they have learned and the understanding they have developed in multiple ways including, digital presentations, written stories, and more.
Here, teachers establish strong Relationships with each student to further foster their learning and growth. With guidance from their teachers in the use of technology, such as the Chromebook each student is provided, students learn how to best use technology purposefully and respectfully while individualizing their learning and connecting what they are learning to the real world.
We Respect, value and celebrate the diversity of our students who come from all over the world. Through our core values, Respect, Responsibility and Relationships, we support our students’ academic and social growth, help them achieve graduation with confidence, and prepare them for success in high school and beyond as responsible contributors to their community.
