Freshman Academy

Dear Parents,
Freshman Academy is an exciting program that creates a small learning community to educate and prepare your incoming 9th graders as they transition to high school. Our goal as freshman academy guidance counselors is to provide the necessary support for your freshman students to be academically successful during their first year. We also aim to ensure that all students have a connection to school, are supported academically and socially through a systemic approach, and are prepared to have a successful high school experience. As students are entering their high school years, each and every grade goes toward graduation and promotion to the next level. Requirements for freshman are to earn at least 6 credits and 5 community service hours in order to be promoted to grade 10. Please access the Powerschool Parent Portal at least one time per week to track your students’ progress. The new school year will bring many new challenges and exciting times for each student as they strive for the final goal: their high school diploma. We are looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically successful school year.
