AP Course Work Agreement

Advanced Placement courses offer college-level coursework in the high school setting, affording students the opportunity to receive college and high school credit simultaneously. If accepted into an AP course, we understand and agree to the following conditions and commitments:

  • I will complete all summer reading and assignments (if applicable).
  • I will be enrolled in the yearlong course for two semesters; class changes will NOT be permitted.
  • I may not transfer from an AP class to a regular education class.
  • I am required to take the AP exam for each AP course in which I am enrolled and I assume all responsibility for payment for all AP exams. The 2015-2016 fee for each exam is $92.00.
  • I understand that the grade I earn in an AP class will be averaged into my cumulative GPA and that a separate GPA will be calculated with an AP quality point added.
  • I understand that once I accept an AP class qualification, I have signed a binding commitment.

You should bring the following items to the exam room:

  • Several sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers) for completing multiple-choice answer sheets.
  • Pens with black or dark blue ink for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response questions in most exams.
  • Up to two calculators with the necessary capabilities if you are taking an AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exam. (Visit www.collegeboard.com/ap/calculators to learn more about the calculator policy for each of these exams, and for a list of authorized calculators.)
  • A government-issued or school-issued photo ID.
  • Your social security number* for identification purposes (optional). If you provide it, the number will appear on your AP score reports.

DO NOT bring the following to the exam room:

  • Scratch paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets)
  • Computers or calculators (except as previously noted).
  • Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions.
  • Watches that beep or have an alarm, or smartwatches.
  • Clothing with subject-related information.
  • Food or drink.

You are required to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to your exam: 7:30 a.m. for the morning administration and 11:30 a.m. for the afternoon administration. If you arrive to the exam after the start of the exam you will not be admitted and will not receive a refund. Students may not be dismissed until an exam has officially ended; do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam. If you play a sport or have a job, it is your responsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation, and arrangements should be made accordingly.

Get a good night’s rest before your exam, and eat a nutritious breakfast. It is advisable to bring a sweater in case the room temperature is below your comfort level.

You are required to abide by the policies of both the College Board and Revere High School during the exam period. Any misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize your AP Exam score. If you do not attend your exam, you will not be issued a refund for your fees.

AP Exam Fees

There are fees associated with the AP Exam, but reductions and subsidies may be available for students with financial need.

The fee for each AP Exam is $92.

Please note:

  • Your school may require you to pay a higher fee to cover proctoring and administration costs.
  • If you are approved to take an alternate exam during the late-testing period, you may be required to pay an additional $45 per exam late-testing fee.
  • If you paid for an AP Exam but then decided not to take it, you may ask your AP Coordinator for a refund. Local school policy determines the amount of the refund. You will probably be required to pay the $15 fee the school is charged for each unused exam. However, once you begin an exam — that is, write on an exam booklet or answer sheet or play an exam CD — you cannot receive a refund.
